The Production Access page controls which production stages each Fabritec user is authorized to work on.Production Access is used to connect production users with their operational responsibilities. For example, a cutting operator may be assigned to Cutting, while a production supervisor may be assigned to several stages such as Cutting, Welding, Fitting, and Painting.These assignments help Fabritec determine which production activities are relevant to each user and which stages the user can update from the Production module.Production Access helps organizations:Restrict production updates to authorized users
Personalize each user’s My Production workspace
Assign users to one or multiple production stages
Reduce incorrect or unauthorized production submissions

Where to Find Production Access#
How Production Access Works#
Production access is controlled through two separate layers:1. Role Permissions#
Role permissions determine whether the user can access Production features and perform actions within the module.Role permissions are managed from:Depending on the user’s role, permissions may control whether the user can:Open the Production module
Submit production updates
Modify production records
2. Production Stage Access#
Production Stage Access determines which configured production stages the user is assigned to.The available stage names depend on the stages configured for your organization under Production Setup.A user may have permission to open the Production module but still be unable to update a production item if the user is not assigned to the item’s current stage.
Example#
A user has permission to access Production and has been assigned to:The user can work on production items available at the Cutting or Welding stages.The same user cannot submit an update for an item currently at Painting unless Painting is added to the user’s Production Access.Before Managing Production Access#
Before assigning stages to a user, confirm that:The user account has already been created
The user has an appropriate role
The required production stages have been created
The production stages are active and available
The user has received the required operational training
Production Access Page Overview#
The Access page contains a toolbar, a user access table, search and filtering tools, and an action for modifying each user’s assigned stages.Page Tools#

Column-level filters may also be available for fields such as Username and Full Name.
Production Access Table#
The table displays each user and the production stages currently assigned to that user.Table Columns#

Assigned stages appear as labels in the Production Stages column.The label names and colors reflect the production stages configured for the organization.When a user has not been assigned to any stage, the table displays:This means the user currently has no stage-level production assignment.Assigning Production Stages to a User#
To assign one or more production stages:1.
Navigate to Production → Access.

Locate the required user in the table.
3.
Use the Search field when necessary.
4.
Click the Edit icon in the Actions column.
5.
The Manage Production Access window opens.
6.
Review the user’s Username and Full Name.
7.
Open the Production Stages dropdown.
8.
Select the stages the user is authorized to work on.
9.
Review the selected stages.
Manage Production Access Window#
The Manage Production Access window contains the following fields:| Field | Description |

Using Search Inside the Stage List#
When the organization has many production stages:1.
Open the Production Stages dropdown.

Enter part of the stage name in the search field.

Locate the required stage.

Repeat the process for any additional stages.
Using Select All#
Select Select All to assign all displayed production stages to the user.This option should be used carefully.It may be appropriate for:Authorized system administrators
Users responsible for several production areas
Adding a Stage to an Existing User#
To expand a user’s responsibilities:1.
Navigate to Production → Access.

Open the Production Stages dropdown.
5.
Keep the existing stages selected.
6.
Select the additional required stage.
Removing a Stage from a User#
To remove access to a specific stage:1.
Navigate to Production → Access.

Open the Production Stages dropdown.

Clear the checkbox beside the stage that should be removed.
6.
Confirm that the remaining assignments are correct.
Removing All Production Stage Access#
To remove all stage assignments:1.
Open the user’s Manage Production Access window.

Clear every selected production stage.
Effect on My Production#
The My Production tab is a personalized workspace that presents production activities relevant to the logged-in user.Production Access is one of the main conditions used to determine which items are relevant to the user.For an item to appear in My Production, the following conditions may need to be satisfied:The user is assigned to the item’s available production stage
The user has the required role permissions
The item has a valid production route
The required previous stage has been completed
The item or phase has been released for production
A quantity remains available for processing
The item is not blocked by another workflow condition
The item is not hidden by an applied filter
Important#
Production Access does not change an item’s production route.It only determines which users are authorized to work with the stages already included in the item’s route.Routes are defined through the project’s Routing Setup or by defining routes for Undefined Items.
Complete Example#

Production Supervisor#
Assign the stages directly supervised by the user.A supervisor may require access to several stages, but access should still reflect actual responsibility.Production Manager#

Production Access and Workstations#
Production Stage Access and Workstation assignment serve different purposes.Production Stage Access determines which type of production activity the user can update.Workstations represent the machine, area, line, or operational station where production is performed.Labour assignments identify the workers involved in a recorded operation.Giving a user access to Welding does not automatically assign that user to every welding workstation or labour record.These settings should be configured according to the organization’s production setup and working process.Reviewing Production Access#
Production Access should be reviewed regularly, especially when:A new user joins the production team
A user changes department
An operator receives training for an additional process
A user is transferred to another shift or factory area
A new production stage is created
A stage is renamed or deactivated

The User Is Not Listed on the Access Page#
The user account has been created

The User Can Open Production but Cannot Update an Item#
Check both access layers:Confirm that the user’s role includes the required Production permissions.
Confirm that the user is assigned to the item’s current production stage.
The item is ready for the stage
A remaining quantity is available
The item has a valid route
Earlier stages have been completed
The phase or item has been released
No workflow restriction is preventing the update
The User Was Assigned a Stage but No Items Appear in My Production#
Stage assignment alone does not make an item production-ready.Any items are currently available at that stage
The relevant items have valid routes
Previous stages have been completed
The production phase is released
The item has remaining quantity
Filters are applied in My Production
The latest data has been loaded
The User Has Too Many Stage Labels to Review in the Table#
When a user has many assigned stages, some stage labels may be shortened or may not fit within the visible table area.Click the Edit icon to open Manage Production Access and review the complete selection.The User Should No Longer Submit Production Updates#
Remove the user’s assigned production stages and review the user’s role permissions.When the user has left the organization or should no longer access Fabritec, deactivate or update the user account through User Management.Removing stage assignments alone may not prevent the user from accessing other Fabritec areas.
Best Practices#
Assign only the stages required for the user’s current responsibilities.
Confirm that the user is trained before granting stage access.
Avoid assigning all stages to standard production operators.
Use role permissions and Production Access together.
Review access whenever responsibilities change.
Remove outdated assignments promptly.
Review users displaying No Stages to confirm whether this is intentional.
Check access after creating a new production stage.
Keep broad access limited to authorized supervisors and managers.
Use Production Logs to review who submitted previous production activities.
Do not share user accounts between operators.
Give every production user an individual account to maintain traceability.
