Revert & Refabricate Items in Production

Fabritec provides two controlled recovery actions inside Item Details:
Revert – Send an item back to a previous production stage
Refabricate – Restart fabrication from scratch
These actions ensure proper traceability when handling production mistakes, quality issues, or rework requirements.
Both actions are available inside:
Production → Items → Select Item → Item Details

📍 Where to Find Revert & Refabricate
1.
Navigate to:
Production → Items
2.
Select an item
3.
Open Item Details
4.
Use the top-right action buttons:
Revert
Refabricate

Revert#

What is Revert?#

Revert sends a quantity of the item back to a previous stage in the workflow.
It is used when an item must return to an earlier stage due to:
Quality issues
Incorrect processing
Missed operation
Inspection failure
Production sequencing correction

How Revert Works#

When clicking Revert, the system prompts you to:
Select the Target Stage (current stage to revert from)
Enter Quantity to Revert
Choose the Destination Stage (previous stage)
After confirmation:
The selected quantity moves backward
Stage quantities are updated automatically
Logs record the revert action
Traceability is preserved

Example#

If an item is currently in:
Galvanizing
And it fails inspection, you can:
Revert quantity back to:
Bending
The item will then re-enter the workflow from that stage.

Important Notes#

Reverting does not delete history
All actions are logged
Reverting respects stage permissions
Quantities must be available in the selected stage

Refabricate#

What is Refabricate?#

Refabricate restarts fabrication of a selected quantity from scratch.
It is used when an item must be completely rebuilt due to:
Major fabrication error
Irreparable defect
Structural damage
Scrap replacement
Engineering rework requiring full restart

How Refabricate Works#

When clicking Refabricate, the system prompts you to:
Select the stage where refabrication applies
Enter the quantity to refabricate
Confirm the action
After confirmation:
The selected quantity is reset
It re-enters the workflow from the beginning
Production tracking restarts
Full traceability is maintained

When to Use Revert vs Refabricate#

ActionPurposeUse When
RevertMove item backward one or more stagesItem needs correction but not full rebuild
RefabricateRestart from zeroItem must be rebuilt completely

Traceability & Logs#

Both actions:
Are recorded in Item Logs
Maintain full production history
Affect stage quantities and progress percentages
Are subject to production access control
This ensures:
Accountability
Clear audit trail
Safe correction of production errors

Best Practices#

Use Revert for controlled backward movement
Use Refabricate only when full rebuild is required
Always verify quantity before confirming
Review logs after action for confirmation
Ensure supervisors approve major refabrication actions
