Holidays

The Holidays page allows Workforce administrators to create and manage one-time and recurring non-working dates used by Fabritec Work Calendars.

Instead of editing every Work Calendar whenever a public holiday, company closure, or annual event occurs, administrators can create one Holiday record and apply it to:
All Work Calendars
Selected Work Calendars only
Holidays help Fabritec determine whether labour resources and workstations are scheduled to operate on a specific date.
They affect:
Labour availability
Workstation planned hours
Crew schedules
Shift Calendars
Operator coverage
Capacity calculations
Derived timesheets
Workforce productivity
Workstation productivity
Maintenance availability calculations
For example:
A national public holiday may apply to all calendars
An office closure may apply only to the Office Calendar
A production shutdown may apply only to the Main Production Calendar
An annual holiday may repeat automatically every year

Navigate to:
Workforce → Holidays
Users normally require the appropriate Manage Work Calendars permission to create, edit, or delete Holidays.

The Holidays page provides two ways to review configured holidays:

The page also provides:

🔍 What Is a Holiday?
A Holiday is a named date that normally closes one or more Work Calendars.
A Holiday can be:
A one-time date
Repeated every year
Applied to all Work Calendars
Applied only to selected Work Calendars
When a Holiday applies to a calendar, resources using that calendar are normally treated as non-working on that date.
Examples include:
National Day
New Year’s Day
Eid Holiday
Company Foundation Day
Annual Factory Shutdown
Office Closure
Production Maintenance Shutdown
A Holiday does not delete or change the normal Weekly Shift Pattern.
It temporarily overrides the normal working schedule for the applicable date.

Grid View#

The Grid View displays Holidays in a structured table.
The grid includes:
Name
Date
Recurring Yearly
Applies to All Calendars
Actions

Name#

Shows the Holiday name.
Examples:
National Day
New Year’s Day
Factory Shutdown
Office Annual Leave
Eid Holiday
Use a clear name that explains why the date is non-working.
Avoid unclear names such as:
Holiday 1
Off
Closed
Test
unless they follow an approved internal naming convention.

Date#

Shows the calendar date associated with the Holiday.
Example:
2026-07-23
For a one-time Holiday, the complete year, month, and day are used.
For a recurring Holiday, the month and day are reused in future years.

Recurring Yearly#

Shows whether the Holiday repeats automatically every year.

Selected#

The Holiday repeats on the same month and day each year.
Example:
Holiday: National Day
Date: 23 September 2026
Recurring Yearly: Yes
Fabritec applies the Holiday on September 23 in future years.

Not Selected#

The Holiday applies only to the entered date.
Example:
Holiday: One-Time Factory Shutdown
Date: 23 July 2026
Recurring Yearly: No
The Holiday applies only on July 23, 2026.

Applies to All Calendars#

Shows whether the Holiday closes every Work Calendar.

Selected#

The Holiday applies to all active Work Calendars.
This may include:
Company default calendar
Shop default calendar
Office calendars
Production calendars
Maintenance calendars
Site calendars
Resource-specific calendars

Not Selected#

The Holiday applies only to the Work Calendars selected when the Holiday was created or edited.

Actions#

The Actions column provides the available management options.

Edit#

Use the Edit action to update:
Holiday name
Date
Recurring Yearly setting
Calendar application
Review the operational impact before changing a Holiday that is already used in historical or future scheduling.

Delete#

Use Delete to remove a Holiday that is no longer required.
Deleting a Holiday removes its non-working effect from applicable calendars.
Before deleting it, confirm that the date should return to the normal Work Calendar pattern.

Grid View Controls#

Excel Export#

Exports the displayed Holiday records to Excel.

PDF Export#

Exports the displayed Holiday records to PDF.

Search#

Searches for a Holiday using its displayed information.

Column Filters#

Filters records using a selected grid column.

Columns#

Shows or hides available grid columns.

Clear Filter#

Removes all active filters.

Reset Cache#

Refreshes cached scheduling information after Holiday or Work Calendar changes.
Use Reset Cache when a recent Holiday update is not yet reflected in related scheduling views.

Calendar View#

The Calendar View displays Holidays in a monthly calendar.
This view helps administrators understand:
Which dates contain Holidays
How multiple Holidays are distributed through the month
Whether a Holiday is one-time or recurring
Which month should be reviewed next

Month Navigation#

Use the previous and next arrows to move between months.
The current month and year appear in the month selector.
Example:
July 2026

Month Selector#

Select the displayed month and year to navigate to another period.
Use this when reviewing:
Future public holidays
Annual closure schedules
Production shutdown periods
Upcoming planning dates

Today#

Click Today to return to the current month and date.

Holiday Events#

Each Holiday appears on its configured calendar date.
The event displays the Holiday name.
A recurring indicator may appear when the Holiday is configured to repeat every year.
Select the event where supported to review its details.

Switching Between Views#

Use:
Grid View for administration, filtering, editing, deleting, and exporting
Calendar View for visual monthly planning and date verification
Both views use the same Holiday records.
Changing the view does not create separate Holiday data.

Add a Holiday#

Navigate to:
Workforce → Holidays
Then click:
Add Holiday

Name
Date
Recurring Yearly
Applies to All Calendars
Select Calendars
Add and Cancel actions

Name — Required#

Enter a clear name for the Holiday.
Examples:
National Day
New Year’s Day
Eid Al-Fitr Holiday
Annual Factory Shutdown
Office Closure
Company Foundation Day
The name appears in both Grid View and Calendar View.

Date — Required#

Select the Holiday date.
For a one-time Holiday, choose the exact date on which the closure applies.
Example:
Date: 07/23/2026
For a recurring Holiday, the selected month and day become the annual recurring date.

Recurring Yearly#

Enable Recurring Yearly when the Holiday should repeat on the same month and day every year.
Use this for annual events such as:
National holidays
New Year’s Day
Company anniversary
Fixed annual shutdown dates
Leave it disabled for:
One-time factory shutdowns
Election-day closures
Project-specific closures
Exceptional company leave
Temporary operational stoppages

Recurring Holiday Example#

Name: National Day
Date: 09/23/2026
Recurring Yearly: Enabled
Result:
September 23, 2026 is a Holiday
September 23, 2027 is also a Holiday
The same month and day continue to repeat annually

February 29 Recurring Holidays#

A recurring Holiday configured for February 29 applies only in years where February 29 exists.
It does not create a Holiday on February 28 or March 1 in non-leap years.

Applies to All Calendars#

Enable Applies to All Calendars when every Work Calendar should close for the Holiday.
The helper text explains:
Apply to all calendars unless only selected calendars should close.
Use this option for organization-wide Holidays such as:
National public holidays
Company-wide shutdowns
Full business closures
When this option is enabled, selecting individual calendars is not required.

Select Calendars#

Use Select Calendars when the Holiday should apply only to specific Work Calendars.
This field is required only when Applies to All Calendars is disabled.
Examples:

Office-Only Holiday#

Name: Office Annual Closure
Applies to All Calendars: No
Selected Calendars:
- Office
Production workers and workstations following the Main Production Calendar continue according to their normal schedule.

Production-Only Shutdown#

Name: Production Maintenance Shutdown
Applies to All Calendars: No
Selected Calendars:
- Main Production
- Night Production
Office resources remain unaffected.

Add the Holiday#

After completing the form:
1.
Enter the Holiday Name.
2.
Select the Date.
3.
Decide whether it repeats yearly.
4.
Decide whether it applies to all calendars.
5.
Select specific calendars where required.
6.
Review the information.
7.
Click Add.
The new Holiday appears in both Grid View and Calendar View.

Complete Example: Company-Wide Annual Holiday#

Name: National Day
Date: 09/23/2026
Recurring Yearly: Enabled
Applies to All Calendars: Enabled
Selected Calendars: Not required
Result:
The Holiday repeats every September 23
Every applicable Work Calendar is treated as non-working
Labour and workstation schedules close for that date
Scheduled and capacity calculations reflect the Holiday

Complete Example: One-Time Production Shutdown#

Name: Production Electrical Shutdown
Date: 08/15/2026
Recurring Yearly: Disabled
Applies to All Calendars: Disabled
Selected Calendars:
- Main Production
- Maintenance Day Operations
Result:
The shutdown applies only on August 15, 2026
Only resources using the selected calendars are affected
Office resources using a different calendar continue normally

Complete Example: Office-Only Annual Closure#

Name: Office Foundation Day
Date: 04/10/2026
Recurring Yearly: Enabled
Applies to All Calendars: Disabled
Selected Calendars:
- Office
Result:
The Holiday repeats every April 10
Office resources are treated as non-working
Production resources using the Shop calendar remain unaffected

How Holidays Affect Work Calendars#

A Holiday normally overrides the Weekly Shift Pattern for the applicable date.
Example:
Work Calendar:
Thursday normally runs Day and Night shifts

Holiday:
Thursday, 23 July 2026
Applies to the calendar
Result:
The date is treated as non-working
Day Shift does not create normal scheduled hours
Night Shift does not create normal scheduled hours
The normal Thursday pattern remains unchanged for future Thursdays.

Holiday Scope#

A Holiday’s scope determines which Work Calendars are affected.

Applies to All Calendars#

Every Work Calendar closes.

Selected Calendars#

Only the chosen calendars close.
Resources are affected according to their effective Work Calendar.
For example:
Holiday applies to: Main Production

Labour A uses: Main Production
Labour B uses: Office
Result:
Labour A is affected
Labour B is not affected

How Resource Calendar Resolution Affects Holidays#

Fabritec first resolves the effective Work Calendar for the resource.
The normal resolution order is:
1. Resource-specific Work Calendar
2. Group Work Calendar
3. Shop default Work Calendar
4. Company default Work Calendar
Fabritec then checks whether the Holiday applies to that resolved calendar.

Labour Example#

Labour: Follow default
Labour Group Calendar: Main Production
Holiday applies to: Main Production
Result:
The labour is treated as non-working on the Holiday.

Workstation Example#

Workstation: No direct calendar
Workstation Group Calendar: Welding Calendar
Holiday applies only to: Office
Result:
The workstation is not affected because its effective calendar is Welding Calendar.

⚠️ Holiday and Special Working Priority
A Special Working Calendar Exception can override a Holiday for one selected Work Calendar and date.
This allows administrators to reopen a calendar on a Holiday without changing the Holiday itself for every other calendar.
Example:
Holiday:
National Day
Applies to All Calendars

Work Calendar Exception:
Calendar: Main Production
Date: National Day
Type: Special Working
Shift: Day
Result:
Main Production operates the Day Shift
Other Work Calendars remain closed
The Holiday record remains unchanged
This is useful when selected production teams must work during an organization-wide Holiday.

Holiday Compared with Calendar Exceptions#

Holidays and Calendar Exceptions serve different purposes.

Holiday#

Use a Holiday when a named closure should apply to:
All Work Calendars
Several selected Work Calendars
A recurring annual date
A standard organization-wide closure

Non-Working Exception#

Use a Non-Working Exception for a one-time closure that belongs to one specific Work Calendar.
Example:
Factory maintenance closure for one calendar

Special Working Exception#

Use a Special Working Exception when a normally closed or holiday date should operate.

Shift Override#

Use a Shift Override when a date should use a different shift arrangement instead of closing completely.

Relationship with Labour Scheduling#

When a Holiday applies to the labour’s effective Work Calendar, the date is normally treated as non-working.
This affects:
Resolved shift availability
Scheduled hours
Attendance baseline
Timesheet calculations
Crew schedule visibility
A Crew rotation may point to a shift, but the worker is not scheduled when the applicable Work Calendar is closed for the Holiday.

Relationship with Workstations and Capacity#

When a Holiday applies to a workstation’s effective Work Calendar:
Normal planned shifts are closed
Planned operating hours are normally zero
Operator coverage is not expected
The date is shown as non-working
Capacity calculations reflect the closure
A workstation-specific or calendar-specific Special Working exception may reopen the date.

Relationship with Timesheets#

Holidays help determine whether a labour resource has scheduled hours on a date.
On a closed Holiday:
Normal scheduled hours are usually zero
The date is not treated as an attendance absence merely because no work was scheduled
Recorded work may still appear if production was entered
Approved timesheet snapshots remain historically unchanged

Relationship with Productivity#

Holidays affect the scheduled-capacity denominators used by Workforce and Workstation Productivity.
Correct Holiday setup helps prevent:
Closed dates being treated as idle capacity
Workers appearing absent when they were not scheduled
Workstations appearing unstaffed on company closures
Capacity being overstated
Utilization calculations using incorrect working hours

Relationship with Maintenance#

Maintenance uses Work Calendars and Holidays to understand whether a workstation was expected to operate.
A maintenance event on a Holiday may not reduce scheduled production capacity when the workstation was already non-working.
This helps distinguish:
Planned calendar closure
Maintenance downtime
Operator coverage gaps
Actual production loss

Editing a Holiday#

Use the Edit action to update an existing Holiday.
You may change:
Name
Date
Recurring Yearly
Applies to All Calendars
Selected calendars
Before saving, consider the effect on:
Labour schedules
Workstation capacity
Crew rotations
Shift Calendars
Timesheets
Productivity reports
Maintenance calculations
Changing a Holiday can affect future and unapproved computed dates.
Approved or locked timesheet days remain based on their saved historical snapshots.

Deleting a Holiday#

Delete a Holiday only when the closure should no longer apply.
Before deleting it:
1.
Confirm the Holiday is not still required.
2.
Review which calendars it affects.
3.
Review related Special Working exceptions.
4.
Confirm the date should return to the normal Weekly Shift Pattern.
5.
Review future Shift Calendars and capacity.
Deleting the Holiday does not delete any Work Calendar or Work Shift.
It removes the Holiday override and allows the normal calendar pattern or another applicable exception to determine the date.

Recommended Implementation Steps#

1. Configure Work Shifts#

Navigate to:
Workforce → Shifts
Create the working-time definitions used by the organization.

2. Configure Work Calendars#

Navigate to:
Workforce → Work Calendars
Create the normal weekly schedules for:
Office
Production
Maintenance
Site teams
Special operations

3. Identify Organization-Wide Holidays#

List the dates when the full organization normally closes.
Examples:
National holidays
New Year’s Day
Company-wide shutdown
Annual company leave
Create these with:
Applies to All Calendars: Enabled

4. Identify Calendar-Specific Closures#

List closures that affect only certain parts of the organization.
Examples:
Office-only closure
Production shutdown
Site-specific holiday
Department shutdown
Disable Applies to All Calendars and select the affected calendars.

5. Identify Recurring Dates#

Enable Recurring Yearly only for Holidays that repeat on the same month and day.
Use one-time Holidays for exceptional dates.

6. Review Grid View#

Confirm:
Holiday names
Dates
Recurring status
Calendar scope

7. Review Calendar View#

Navigate through the relevant months and confirm that Holidays appear on the correct dates.

8. Add Special Working Exceptions Where Required#

When one calendar must operate during a Holiday, add a Special Working exception to that Work Calendar.
Do not remove an organization-wide Holiday merely because one production team must work.

9. Review Shift Calendars#

Navigate to:
Workforce → Shift Calendars
Verify that:
Holiday dates are shown as non-working
Affected calendars are closed
Unaffected calendars continue normally
Special Working dates show the correct shifts

10. Review Timesheets and Capacity#

Confirm that:
Holiday dates do not create incorrect scheduled labour hours
Closed workstations do not show false coverage gaps
Planned capacity reflects the calendar closure
Special Working exceptions restore only the intended schedule

Governance Rules#

Every Holiday requires a clear name.
Every Holiday requires a date.
A one-time Holiday uses the complete selected date.
A recurring Holiday repeats using the selected month and day.
February 29 recurring Holidays apply only in leap years.
A Holiday may apply to all Work Calendars or selected calendars.
At least one calendar must be selected when Applies to All Calendars is disabled.
A Holiday normally makes the applicable date non-working.
Holidays do not permanently change the Weekly Shift Pattern.
A Special Working exception can override a Holiday for one calendar and date.
Resources are affected according to their resolved Work Calendar.
A Holiday affecting one calendar does not automatically close other calendars.
Holiday changes can affect future computed schedules and capacity.
Approved or locked timesheet snapshots remain historically unchanged.
Deleting a Holiday returns the date to its normal calendar or exception behavior.
Recurring Yearly should not be enabled for exceptional one-time closures.

Use clear Holiday names that supervisors can recognize
Apply national and company-wide closures to all calendars
Use selected calendars for department-specific shutdowns
Enable Recurring Yearly only for fixed annual dates
Use one-time Holidays for exceptional closures
Review annual Holidays before the start of each year
Verify recurring dates after company calendar changes
Use Calendar View to identify missing or duplicated Holidays
Avoid creating separate duplicate Holiday records for every calendar
Use Special Working exceptions when selected teams must work during a Holiday
Do not edit the Weekly Shift Pattern for one Holiday date
Review the impact on workstations and labour resources before changing a shared Holiday
Check Shift Calendars after adding or editing Holidays
Confirm that office and production calendars have the intended Holiday scope
Review February 29 recurring Holidays in leap-year planning
Use descriptive names instead of date-only names
Preserve approved timesheet history
Use Reset Cache when recent Holiday changes are not yet reflected
