WorkStations

WorkStations represent the physical machines, stations, or production areas used during fabrication.
Each workstation is linked to a Production Stage and is essential for:
Tracking productivity
Assigning tasks to operators
Measuring capacity and throughput
Building accurate production routes
Fabritec allows you to add, edit, and configure workstations so that they align perfectly with your factory layout and workflow.

The WorkStations page lists all machines and work areas, showing:
Code
Name
Status (Running / Offline)
Type (MachineDriven, LaborDriven, MachineAndLaborDriven)
Default Production Stage
Actions (edit/delete)
You can export the full workstation list using Excel Export or PDF Export.

➕ Add a New WorkStation#

Click + Add WorkStation to open the creation form.

You will configure the following fields:

Code (Required)#

A unique identifier for the workstation.
Examples:
11 (CNC Plasma Cutting Machine)
41 (MIG/MAG Welding Station)

Name (Required)#

Give the workstation a clear, descriptive name.
Examples:
CNC Plasma Cutting Machine
Pipe Bending Machine
Galvanizing Bath

Default Production Stage (Required)#

Select the stage that normally takes place at this workstation.
Examples from the dropdown:
Cutting
Bending
Rolling
Welding
Galvanizing
Painting
Auto Welding
Cold Forming
This ensures items are routed to the correct station during tracking.

Type (Required)#

Defines how the workstation operates:

MachineDriven#

Used when the workstation is operated primarily by machines.
Examples:
Laser Cutting Machine
Rolling Machine

LaborDriven#

Used for fully manual workstations.
Examples:
Grinding table
Manual painting booth

MachineAndLaborDriven#

Used when both operator effort and machine capacity contribute.

Stream Type (Required)#

Defines how the workstation processes items.

Single#

One item is processed at a time.
Common for: cutting, welding, drilling.

Continuous#

Items move continuously through the station.
Common for: painting lines, conveyor systems.

Capacity Type (Required)#

This determines the unit of measurement used for workstation capacity.
Options include:
Weight
Area
Length
Quantity
Volume

Capacity / hr (Required)#

Enter the maximum expected output this station can handle per hour.
Examples:
Weight (kg/hr)
Length (m/hr)
Quantity (pcs/hr)

Unit (Required)#

The specific measurement unit for the selected capacity type.
Examples:
kg
g
t
m
cm
pcs

Description (Optional)#

Add more details if needed, such as:
Material limitations
Operating instructions
Safety notes
Machine type/model

🛠 Actions: Edit or Delete#

Each workstation includes:
✏️ Edit — update any workstation details
🗑️ Delete — remove the workstation from Fabritec
(You cannot delete a workstation that is already used in production routes or tracking.)

🧩 How WorkStations Integrate with Fabritec#

Routing#

Workstations execute the stages defined in routes.

Labours#

Labour groups are assigned to specific stations.

Dashboards#

Workstation data is used in load planning, utilization, and performance reporting.

Tracking#

Operators record progress at the workstation where the item is processed.

⭐ Best Practices#

1.
Use clear codes (e.g., 11 = cutting line, 41 = welding station).
2.
Assign accurate capacity values for better planning and scheduling.
3.
Keep workstation names consistent with factory signage.
4.
Use Continuous stream type only for stations designed for automatic flow.
5.
Group workstations logically by production stage.
