FAQs for the Quality Control (QC)

❓ FAQs for the Quality Control (QC) Section#

Below are the most important and commonly asked questions customers raise when using the Quality Control module in Fabritec.

1️⃣ Why don’t I see any items in the QC Inspections page?#

Because no items have been submitted to QC yet.
Items appear in QC only when:
The production stage requires inspection
The operator completes that stage
The system automatically sends the item to QC
If a stage does not require inspection, it will not show up in QC.

2️⃣ Who is allowed to perform QC inspections?#

Only users who have been assigned QC permissions in the QC → Access page can:
Approve items
Reject items
Approve/Reject in bulk
Permissions are based on specific production stages (Welding QC, Painting QC, Visual QC, etc.).

3️⃣ What happens when an item is approved in QC?#

When QC approves an item:
It moves forward to the next production stage
If it is the final stage, the item becomes ready for shipping
Logs are stored in the item’s QC history
Dashboards and reports update automatically

4️⃣ What happens when an item is rejected?#

A rejected item:
Is returned to the previous stage for rework
Appears in Item Logs with a rejection entry
Cannot progress until rework is completed
May require re-inspection depending on your workflow
Rework actions are also fully traceable.

5️⃣ Can I approve or reject multiple items at once?#

Yes.
QC includes Approve All and Reject All actions, useful for batches of items that were processed together.
Use this carefully, ensuring all items meet requirements.

6️⃣ Why is the QC inspector name important?#

The Inspector field provides:
Full traceability
Accountability
Compliance with quality standards
This is especially critical for welding QC, coating QC, and client audits.

7️⃣ What is the purpose of the QC Access tab?#

The Access tab allows administrators to:
Assign QC permissions per production stage
Enable/disable QC for outsourcing stages
Control which users can inspect which operations
This prevents unauthorized inspections and ensures compliance.

8️⃣ Can a user inspect multiple production stages?#

Yes.
A single inspector can be assigned for:
Cutting QC
Welding QC
Painting QC
Visual QC
Outsourcing QC
Permissions are flexible and adjustable anytime.

9️⃣ Why are some items stuck in QC with no assigned inspector?#

This happens when:
No user has QC permission for that specific stage
Inspectors are assigned only to other stages
The stage requires inspection but no inspector has access
Assign a QC user to that stage to resolve the issue.

🔟 Can QC inspections be reversed or corrected?#

Yes — but only users with the right permissions can:
Edit QC logs
Correct incorrect approvals
Reopen rejected items
Fabritec ensures a full audit trail is maintained.

11️⃣ Does QC cover outsourced production steps?#

Yes.
If a stage is marked as Outsourcing, inspectors can review:
Incoming outsourced items
Supplier compliance
Post-processing quality
QC Outsourcing permission must be enabled for the inspector.

12️⃣ Why does QC show items from all projects?#

The QC module is global, meaning:
All pending inspections across all active projects appear in one place
Inspectors do not need to switch projects manually
Workload and QC queues are easier to manage
You can filter by project, phase, or stage.

13️⃣ What information does the Inspection Table provide?#

Each row includes:
Phase
Mark
Stage
Status
Quantity / Accepted quantity
Sent by
Inspector
Inspection date
This ensures complete traceability for audits and reporting.

14️⃣ What happens to shipping if QC is not completed?#

Items cannot enter the shipping yard until:
All QC-required stages are approved
Rejected items (if any) are reworked and re-approved
QC acts as a mandatory quality gate before dispatch.

15️⃣ Can QC decisions be exported for reporting?#

Yes.
The Excel export provides:
Daily QC activities
Inspector performance
Approval/rejection rates
Traceability for audits and certifications
Most factories export QC logs weekly or monthly.
