FAQs for the Labours

❓ FAQs for the Labours Section#

Below are clear answers to the most common questions users ask when configuring Labours in Fabritec.

1️⃣ What is the difference between a Labour and a Labour Title?#

A Labour is an individual worker in your factory.
A Labour Title is the job role or skill category the worker belongs to (e.g., Welder, CNC Operator).
Titles define the worker’s abilities, while Labour records store their personal and operational details.

2️⃣ Do I need to add Labour Titles before adding workers?#

Yes — it is highly recommended.
When you create Labour Titles first, you ensure workers can be assigned to the correct skills and operations from day one.
It keeps your data organized and improves production assignment accuracy.

3️⃣ Can a worker be assigned to multiple production stages?#

Yes.
If a worker is skilled in more than one operation (e.g., Cutting + Welding), you can assign them to multiple stages.
This allows Fabritec to include them in planning, capacity, and stage-level updates for all relevant tasks.

4️⃣ Can a labour work in more than one shift?#

A labour can only be assigned to one primary shift at a time.
If your factory rotates workers, you can update their shift as needed.
Shifts directly influence capacity calculations and workforce availability.

5️⃣ What happens if I assign a labour to the wrong shift or job title?#

Incorrect assignments may lead to:
Wrong planning calculations
Misaligned labour availability
Confusion in production updates
You can edit the labour record anytime to fix shift or title without affecting historical logs.

6️⃣ How does assigning Production Stages to a labour affect workflow?#

Assigning Production Stages ensures the worker:
Appears in the labour selection list during updates
Can submit progress for those stages
Is counted in capacity planning for that operation
Workers without assigned stages cannot update items in production.

7️⃣ Can I delete a labour who has already worked on production items?#

No.
If a worker has historical activity, Fabritec blocks deletion to protect traceability.
Instead, you should deactivate or lock the labour record.

8️⃣ Can I edit a labour’s details later without affecting existing production logs?#

Yes.
Editing name, job title, shift, or stages does not change historical records.
Production logs always retain the original data to maintain audit accuracy.

9️⃣ Is the Labour Code required to be unique?#

Yes.
The Labour Code is a unique identifier used for:
Scanning
Quick lookup
Avoiding duplicate records
Each worker must have a distinct code.

🔟 What is the purpose of the Native Name field?#

The Native Name field allows you to store the worker’s name in their preferred or local language (e.g., Arabic).
This is helpful for multilingual teams and improves communication with shop-floor workers.

11️⃣ Do I need to assign production stages to every labour?#

Not mandatory — but strongly recommended.
Without stage assignments, the worker:
Cannot update progress
Will not appear in bulk updates
Won’t be included in capacity planning
Assigning correct stages ensures proper workflow integration.

12️⃣ Can I assign one labour to multiple WorkStations?#

Yes.
A labour can operate more than one machine or station.
Assigning multiple stages ensures they can work in all relevant areas of the production line.

13️⃣ How do labours show up in reports and dashboards?#

Labours contribute to:
Labour Productivity Reports
Stage-based performance reports
Production logs
This helps management analyze individual or team efficiency.

14️⃣ Why can’t I delete a labour from the system?#

A labour cannot be deleted if they:
Have production activity
Are assigned to ongoing tasks
Are linked to QC or tracking logs
You must reassign tasks or deactivate them instead of deleting.

15️⃣ Can I bulk import labour data instead of adding workers one by one?#

Yes — Fabritec supports bulk import.
This is ideal for large factories onboarding many workers.
You can upload workers via Excel/CSV and map fields similar to the BOM import process.
