FAQs for the Tracking

❓ FAQs for the Tracking Module#

Below are the most important and commonly asked customer questions when learning how to use the Tracking Module in Fabritec.

1️⃣ Why can’t I see any items in the Tracking page?#

Because the Phase has not been released for production.
Fabritec hides all items until:
The revision is approved
The phase is released for production
Once released, all routing, QC, and production workflows become active.

2️⃣ What does “Release Phase for Production” actually do?#

Releasing a phase:
Activates Tracking
Allows Bulk & Single item updates
Enables QC inspections
Activates routing for each mark
Makes items available in Production, QC, and Shipping modules
Without release, the entire production workflow remains locked.

3️⃣ Can I update production before a phase is released?#

No.
Fabritec prevents all updates — bulk or single — until the phase is officially released to ensure data accuracy and prevent premature logging.

4️⃣ What is the difference between Items Tracking and Item Status tabs?#

TabPurpose
Items TrackingUpdate progress, perform bulk updates, and review routing details.
Item StatusHigh-level overview: total qty, completed qty, per-stage status, and QC requirements.
Items Tracking is operational; Item Status is managerial.

5️⃣ How does Bulk Update work, and when should I use it?#

Bulk Update is ideal when:
Many items are processed together
The same labour team and workstation handled multiple marks
End-of-shift updates are needed
It updates:
Date/time
Labour
Workstation
Duration
Completed quantity
Use it daily for operational efficiency.

6️⃣ When should I use Single Item Update instead of Bulk Update?#

Use Single Item Update when:
An item requires rework
One piece received special handling
A specific timestamp needs correction
Only one mark was processed
This ensures precise tracking for exceptions.

7️⃣ Why does the system only allow updating the “current required stage”?#

Fabritec ensures the workflow follows the predefined Route.
You can only update the stage that the item is currently expected to be in — preventing skipping or jumping ahead.

8️⃣ Why is QC blocking my progress update?#

If the current stage is marked Requires Inspection, then:
QC must approve the stage before production can continue.
Operators cannot bypass this checkpoint.
This ensures quality verification before downstream processing.

9️⃣ Can I perform tracking for outsourced stages?#

Yes.
If the route includes Outsourcing Stages, the tracking page will allow logging:
Sending to supplier
Receiving from supplier
Duration and timestamps
Outsourced steps appear in reports and Item Logs.

🔟 Why does Item Status show 0% even though I updated progress?#

Common reasons:
The wrong quantity was entered
Updates were logged under a different phase
Routing is incorrect
The revision was updated but not approved
The building/phase relationship is missing
Verify routing and phase release.

11️⃣ How are production percentages calculated?#

Fabritec calculates progress based on:
Completed quantity per stage
Total operations required
Weight contribution of the item
Routing sequence completion
Percentages update automatically after each log.

12️⃣ Can I modify or delete a production log?#

Yes — but only users with appropriate permissions can:
Edit logs
Remove incorrect entries
Adjust timestamps
This ensures audit-traceability and prevents unauthorized changes.

13️⃣ Why do some logs appear with “Rework”?#

Rework is automatically logged when:
QC rejects an item
A stage fails inspection
The operator manually marks an activity as rework
Rework appears in Item Logs and affects productivity insights.

14️⃣ What does the Item Logs page contain?#

Item Logs include:
All stage updates
QC inspections and approvals
Rework entries
Operator names
Timestamps
Routing history
This is essential for QA/QC audits and customer reporting.

15️⃣ Why does the Item Details page show different quantities (Available, Under Inspection, Done)?#

These quantities reflect the lifecycle of the item:
Available → Ready for processing
Under Inspection → Waiting for QC
Done → Stage successfully completed
This breakdown helps teams monitor bottlenecks and QC delays.

16️⃣ Why is Bulk Update not working for certain items?#

Common reasons:
Phase is not released
Selected items are in different stages
QC is required and not completed
User lacks tracking permissions
Ensure all items share the same current stage.

17️⃣ Can multiple users update tracking simultaneously?#

Yes.
Fabritec fully supports multi-user operations across shifts, teams, and workstations.

18️⃣ Does Tracking work in real-time?#

Yes.
Once an update is submitted:
Dashboards refresh
Reports refresh
Production percentages update
Logs are created instantly
Real-time visibility is core to Fabritec.

19️⃣ How does Tracking integrate with Routing?#

Tracking follows the exact Routing sequence configured for each mark:
Stages appear in order
QC gates apply automatically
Outsourcing steps are included
Duration and labour data feed into reports
Incorrect routing directly leads to incorrect tracking.

20️⃣ What happens after the final stage is completed?#

Once the last stage is finished:
Item becomes Production Completed
It moves into Shipping Readiness
Appears in Shipping Status or Yard Management modules
Can be included in packing lists and loads
Production is considered complete at this point.
