FAQs for the Buildings

❓ FAQs for the Buildings Page Section#

Below are clear and practical answers to the most common questions customers ask when working with Buildings inside Fabritec.

1️⃣ Why do I need to create buildings inside a project?#

Buildings allow you to organize project components into physical or logical structures, making it easier to:
Track production progress per building
Track shipping progress per building
Generate accurate reports
Separate items across multiple structures in the same project
This becomes essential for large multi-structure projects (warehouses, plants, malls, towers, etc.).

2️⃣ What is the difference between Building Name and Building Number?#

Building Name → A descriptive label (e.g., Warehouse A, Tower B1).
Building Number → A unique sequential identifier auto-generated by Fabritec (01, 02, 03…).
Numbers ensure consistent reference in reports, while names help users recognize structures easily.

3️⃣ How does Quantity (QTY) work when adding a new building model?#

When you set QTY to 3, Fabritec automatically creates:
3 building entries
With unique building numbers (01, 02, 03)
Under the same building model
This saves time when creating repeated buildings with identical characteristics.

4️⃣ Why is Estimated Weight required?#

Estimated Weight is used to:
Calculate production percentage
Calculate shipping percentage
Provide planning and forecasting insights
Compare estimated vs. actual manufactured weight
Populate dashboards and reports
Without it, progress percentages cannot be calculated accurately.

5️⃣ Can I edit building details after they are created?#

Yes — you can edit:
Building Name
Building Number
Address
Estimated Weight
However, some changes may be restricted if items or phases are already linked.

6️⃣ Can different buildings share the same address?#

Yes.
Multiple buildings can use the same delivery or site address when they belong to the same project location.

7️⃣ Why are my production and shipping percentages not updating?#

This happens when:
The building has no phases linked
Items have not been assigned to that building
The phase is not released for production
Routing is missing
Shipping records are not completed
Ensure each building is connected to actual production phases and items.

8️⃣ What is the difference between Weight and Estimated Weight?#

Estimated Weight → What you expect the building to weigh (input manually).
Weight → The actual calculated weight from imported and approved revision items.
This allows comparison between planned vs. actual progress.

9️⃣ Can I delete a building that already has production activity?#

No.
A building cannot be deleted if it has:
Linked phases
Approved revisions
Production logs
Shipping records
You must remove associated data first or keep the building active.

🔟 Where do building names and numbers appear in other modules?#

They appear in:
Tracking
QC
Production
Shipping Status
Reports
Dashboards
Phase Explorer
BOM reports
This ensures every item is tied to a specific structure in the project.

11️⃣ Can I add more buildings later if the project expands?#

Yes.
You can add new buildings at any time by creating:
A new building model, or
Adding additional buildings to the existing model
Both approaches are supported.

12️⃣ Why can’t I remove a row from the building details table?#

You cannot remove a row when:
The building is already linked to a phase
Items exist under that building
Production or shipping logs are created
These safeguards prevent breaking project data.

13️⃣ What happens when I enter the wrong address for a building?#

You can edit the building and update the address at any time.
This change will reflect in:
Shipping documents
Reports
Project information panels
It does not affect production data.

14️⃣ Can I export the buildings list? What format is supported?#

Yes — you can export the buildings table in:
Excel
PDF
These formats are ideal for planning, coordination meetings, and client communication.

15️⃣ How does assigning multiple buildings affect production tracking?#

Each item is tied to a specific building, so Fabritec automatically:
Calculates production percentage per building
Tracks shipping progress per building
Generates building-specific reports
Provides breakdowns in dashboards
This makes multi-building project management highly organized and traceable.
