Below are detailed answers to the most common questions customers ask when creating a new project in Fabritec.
1️⃣ What is the difference between Job Number and Project Name?#
Job Number is the unique identifier used internally across dashboards, reports, and tracking. It must be unique. Project Name is the readable name shown on cards, lists, and exports. Both appear across the system, but Job Number is the key reference used for sorting and filtering.
2️⃣ Can I edit project details after the project is created?#
Yes — most fields can be edited later, including:
Customer name
Contact information
Scope of work
Surface area
However, Folder Structure cannot be changed after creation, and some address-related fields in linked buildings may require updates separately.
3️⃣ What happens if I choose the wrong Folder Structure? Can I change it?#
No — the folder structure cannot be changed after the project is created. This prevents conflicts or loss of documents already uploaded under the structure. If a mistake occurs, the recommended approach is to create a new project with the correct structure.
4️⃣ Why is the Address required, and where is it used?#
The project address is essential for:
Shipping operations
Delivery documentation
Reports
Project overview details
It ensures correct logistics and proper identification of project location.
5️⃣ Do Customer Email and Phone affect any system notifications?#
Currently, customer email and phone are stored for reference and documentation. They do not trigger automated notifications but are helpful for communication and exported reports.
6️⃣ Is the Scope of Work important for production and reporting?#
Scope of Work is descriptive only and does not affect production logic, routing, or QC. However, it appears in documents and helps teams understand project requirements.
Job Number must be unique, but the naming format is flexible.
8️⃣ Can multiple projects share the same customer and contact information?#
Yes. Many projects may belong to the same customer, using the same email, phone, and company name.
9️⃣ Is Surface Area mandatory, and how is it used?#
No — Surface Area is optional. It is mainly used for documentation, estimation, or BOQ-style references. It does not impact production or routing calculations.
🔟 Why can’t I save the project? (Common validation errors)#
The system will block creation if required fields are missing:
Job Number
Project Name
Customer
Scope of Work
Address
Folder Structure
Ensure these fields are filled to proceed successfully.
11️⃣ Can I clone or duplicate an existing project?#
Currently, Fabritec does not support project cloning. Each project must be created manually, but repeating clients and similar job structures make setup quick.
12️⃣ How does the selected folder structure affect project workflows?#
The folder structure determines:
Where project files will be uploaded
How documents are organized
How engineers, QC, and shipping teams file documents
It does not affect production workflows directly, but it impacts document control and audit consistency.
13️⃣ Can I add multiple addresses for one project?#
Yes. You can save multiple addresses in the address list and select the correct one while adding buildings or during shipping operations.
14️⃣ Where does the project appear after creation?#
Immediately after creation, the project appears in:
Home Page project cards
Projects List
Dashboards (once production begins)
15️⃣ Does creating a project automatically start production?#
