FAQs for the Dashboards

1️⃣ What does the Real-Time Dashboard measure exactly?#

The Real-Time Dashboard measures live production performance based on actual data logged in the system.
Depending on the widgets and datasets you enable, it can measure:
Total Weight (t)
Total Quantity
Total Hours
Efficiency ratios (Hours / Weight)
Other datasets such as Length, Area, or Volume
It reflects real production events (completed stages, logged hours, QC approvals), not estimates or plans.

2️⃣ Why is production commonly measured in weight (t)? Can I measure other metrics?#

In steel and fabrication environments, weight is the most reliable metric for:
Capacity planning
Throughput comparison
Productivity benchmarking
However, Fabritec dashboards are not limited to weight.
You can also analyze:
Hours
Qty
Length
Area
Volume
Hours / Weight (efficiency)
You can display up to two datasets at the same time for comparison (e.g., Weight vs Hours).

3️⃣ Is the dashboard really real-time? How often does it update?#

Yes.
Dashboards update automatically and continuously as soon as data is recorded, such as:
Stage progress updates
Workstation time logs
QC approvals or rejections
Shipping dispatches
In some cases, a browser refresh may be needed if the page has been idle.

4️⃣ Why don’t I see data for certain days or periods?#

Common reasons include:
No production activity was logged during that time
Items did not reach a completed stage
QC inspections blocked completion
Routes or stages were missing
The selected date range falls outside actual project timelines
Always verify production logs and stage configurations.

5️⃣ How do Duration and Granularity affect results?#

Duration controls which period you are analyzing
(Last 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, Custom range, etc.)
Granularity controls how data is grouped
(Daily, Weekly, Monthly)
Example:
Long duration + Daily granularity → detailed operational view
Long duration + Monthly granularity → management trend analysis

6️⃣ What is the difference between Timeline and other breakdowns (Stage, Phase, Labour, etc.)?#

Timeline → Shows how productivity changes over time
Stage / Phase / Workstation / Labour → Shows where productivity is happening
These breakdowns help answer questions like:
“Is the issue time-related or resource-related?”

7️⃣ Can I filter dashboards by project, category, stage, or labour?#

Yes.
The Real-Time Dashboard supports powerful breakdowns, including:
Job Number
Category
Phase
Customer
Production Stage
Workstation
Labour
You can also add a secondary breakdown for deeper analysis.

8️⃣ Why does my exported PDF or image look different from what I expected?#

Differences usually happen because:
The selected date range changed before export
Dataset visibility (Weight, Hours, etc.) was modified
A different granularity was active
Some widgets were hidden or removed
Always review filters and datasets before exporting.

9️⃣ Why do I see sudden spikes or drops in productivity?#

Common causes include:
Bulk production updates logged at once
Delayed QC approvals
Late completion of high-weight items
Missing operator logs later corrected
Outsourced batches completed together
Use breakdowns (Stage, Phase, Labour) to pinpoint the cause.

🔟 Can different users see different dashboards?#

Yes.
Each user can:
Customize their own widgets
Save multiple dashboards
Set a default dashboard
Dashboards are user-specific, while the underlying data remains consistent.

11️⃣ How far back can I analyze data on the dashboard?#

You can analyze:
Up to 3 years using predefined filters
Any historical range using Custom Date Range
The only limitation is the availability of production logs.

12️⃣ Why does the chart appear empty after selecting a custom date range?#

This usually means:
No production data exists in that period
The start and end dates were inverted
The selected range falls outside active project dates
Try narrowing the range or confirming production activity.

13️⃣ Does the dashboard include outsourced production?#

Yes.
If an outsourced stage is marked as completed, its output contributes to dashboard metrics.
You can analyze:
Combined production
Or isolate performance using stage, phase, or routing logic

14️⃣ When should I use Dashboards vs Reports?#

Use:
Dashboards for live monitoring, trends, and quick insights
Reports for detailed, tabular, and export-heavy analysis
They are designed to complement each other.

15️⃣ Can dashboard views be saved and reused?#

Yes.
You can:
Save dashboards
Update existing dashboards
Set a default dashboard
Switch between multiple saved views
This allows different dashboards for:
Daily operations
Management reviews
Productivity analysis
